Riley earns national distinction from U.S. News & World Report as the hospital enters its second century of caring for children

INDIANAPOLIS - Riley Hospital for Children is once again the only nationally ranked children’s hospital in Indiana by U.S. News & World Report, which released the 2024-25 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings today. Riley Children’s Health is also ranked third* in the Midwest.

Riley Children’s earned national ranking in all eleven of the pediatric specialties ranked by U.S. News & World Report, including the newest addition of Pediatric and Adolescent Behavioral Health, which does not have a numbered ranking, but is only listed as Top 50 this year. Three of Riley Children’s specialty programs ranked in the top 10 nationally: urology at #5, pulmonology and lung surgery at #7 and nephrology at #10. Riley Children’s is one of only 23 children’s hospitals to have ranked in 11 out of 11 pediatric specialties.

U.S. News & World Report introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families find the best medical care for their children. The rankings provide detailed information about each hospital’s performance.

To gather clinical data, U.S. News & World Report surveys hospitals about objective measures such as patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices. In addition, U.S. News & World Report asks physicians around the country to name up to 10 hospitals in their specialty that provide the best care to patients with serious conditions, without considering location or expense.

This year’s rankings will be published in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2025” guidebook, available in November.
